WHICH ARE THE BEST BOOKS FOR JEE?
“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” ~ Charles W. Eliot
Every year, there is a lot of confusion among aspirants regarding which book to choose for which subject. I have been preparing students for IIT-JEE for quite a long time. So I think I am well equipped to answer your question. So here it goes!
There are 100+ answers to this question and so I’ll try not to make it very long but please please hold on with me (5-6 minutes max) if it goes a bit long. I’ll first recommend you the books which I solved during my 2-year JEE preparation and then I’ll suggest those books which are very popular among JEE aspirants.

During the time of my JEE preparation, online education and YouTube was very very less popular and so I was only dependent on coaching material and books and yes, it turned out to be very fruitful for me and landed me at my dream college i.e. IIT Bombay. Always remember, books can help you in many ways than an online PDF file or image can.
All of the aforementioned books that I have solved during my JEE preparation are very very good and you can trust me on that. If you’re going for a 2-year preparation of IIT-JEE, then this is the best combination of books that you can buy. All of these books contain good quality questions in good quantity as well. A lot of theory has been covered in these books with important concepts and some cool tricks.
It is important to note that the above is just a list of great books for IIT-JEE (which I solved during my JEE preparation). You can buy all or some of the aforementioned books depending on the time which you have. You can also choose other popular and great books which are highly preferred by people during JEE preparation. Some of them are
- For Mathematics - Vikas Gupta’s Black Book, Mathematics By TMH Publication (Especially For JEE Main), RD Sharma Objective, New Pattern IIT-JEE Mathematics By Dr. S. K. Goyal
- For Chemistry - JD Lee Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry By Solomons and Fryhle (Very High Level), Concepts of Organic Chemistry By O. P. Tandon, Himanshu Pandey and A. K. Virmani
- For Physics - Problems in General Physics By I. E. Irodov (Very High Level), SS Krotov (Very High Level), Fundamental Physics By Halliday, Resnick and Walker (High Level)
Important (Final Remarks): My recommendation is don’t go for too many books. Per subject, 2–3 books along with coaching material (of a good coaching institute) are enough if you’re rigorously practicing every subject and want to get a good rank in JEE Advanced and JEE Main as well. Every book that I have mentioned above (which I solved) is unique in itself. So, whenever you choose a book, take a glance at the theory and try to solve the maximum questions from that book. Do use a highlighter to mark important concepts and questions while practicing. This will help you a lot at the time of revision before your JEE Main and Advanced examinations.
Hope this helps you. Thank you for reading!
