WHAT ARE THOSE SPECIFIC TOPICS THAT ARE THERE IN JEE MAIN SYLLABUS BUT THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN JEE ADVANCED SYLLABUS?

Image
There is a list of chapters, questions from that are only asked in JEE Main and hence they are called JEE Main Topics. These topics are Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, Height and Distance, Mathematical Induction, Sets and Relations. While analyzing the previous year's papers, what I’ve seen is that one question from each of the aforementioned topics does come in JEE Main. So don’t forget to revise and practice the JEE Main Topics. Below is a tentative prediction on what type of questions can come from JEE Main Topics in JEE Main: Statistics - Questions Based Either On Variance or SD or Mean or Median or Mode (Most Frequently Asked For Simple Data) Mathematical Reasoning - Questions Based On Connectives And Truth Table Like Identifying Contradiction, Tautology, Equivalence And Negation/Contrapositive/Inverse/Converse of A Connective Height And Distance - The Regular Questions Asking Heights And Distances (Mostly of 10th Level) Mathematical Induction - I Personally Have Never Se...

WHICH ARE THE BEST BOOKS FOR JEE?

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” ~ Charles W. Eliot Every year, there is a lot of confusion among aspirants regarding which book to choose for which subject. I have been preparing students for IIT-JEE for quite a long time. So I think I am well equipped to answer your question. So here it goes! There are 100+ answers to this question and so I’ll try not to make it very long but please please hold on with me (5-6 minutes max) if it goes a bit long . I’ll first recommend you the books which I solved during my 2-year JEE preparation and then I’ll suggest those books which are very popular among JEE aspirants. PHYSICS Cengage Learning Series (Physics for JEE Advanced) By B. M. Sharma - Cengage JEE Advanced Set of 6 Books for Physics [Recommended For Theory and Questions Both] Understanding Physics for JEE Main and Advanced By D. C. Pandey [I Solved Only Mechanics Volume I and Volu...

WHICH IS THE BEST BOOK FOR MATHEMATICS FOR JEE MAIN ONLY?

Image
There are quite a good number of answers to this question and so I’ll try not to make it very long. I’ll suggest you those books, some of which I personally have solved during my JEE preparation. They are really very popular among JEE aspirants and are good as well. Now every year, there is a lot of confusion among aspirants regarding which book to choose for which subject. Therefore, I'll try my best to clear your doubts as much as possible through this post. So if we are discussing about the books for Mathematics for JEE Main only and that too in such a way that they will be enough to get you a good rank in JEE Main, then it must have good quality problems in quantity covering all the theory for JEE Main and also must satisfy the following characteristics: Whether it is relevant for JEE Main. Does it have solutions to all the questions? Is there a good quantity of problems with quality per chapter? Then, without any doubt, books by Cengage Learning and  TMH Publication (McGraw ...

CAN I GET A RANK BETWEEN 2000 TO 5000 RANK IN JEE ADVANCED IF PREVIOUSLY I HAD A JEE MAIN FOCUSED MINDSET FOR 2 YEARS AND JUST HAVE REDIRECTED MY FOCUS TOWARDS JEE ADVANCED?

Image
Yes! You can definitely get a rank between 2000-5000 in JEE Advanced even if previously you had a JEE Main focused mindset and you have just now redirected your focus towards JEE Advanced.  See! JEE Advanced and JEE Main don’t have a different syllabus, meaning that if you have prepared well for JEE Main, then you just need to do some extra things to prepare for JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced needs more conceptual clarity, especially for the multiple correct type questions. Try practicing more difficult questions from a good book specially designed for JEE Advanced, like Black Book for Mathematics. Practice different types of questions like multiple correct, integer type, numerical answer type, comprehension based, matrix-match etc-etc. Maintain a good balance between Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Remember, to qualify in JEE Advanced, you also have to clear the subject-wise cutoff along with the total cut-off. Study as much as you can in the remaining days with maintaining your h...

CAN YOU SHARE THE STORY OF SOMEONE WHO BUT CRACKED JEE MAIN WITH OKAY-OK MARKS BUT CRACKED JEE ADVANCED IN LAST MONTH WITH AT LEAST 3K-4K RANK?

Image
Yes.  He was my friend's friend and his name was  Hari Krishna.  Though I don't know him personally but I have heard about him from my friend quite a few times. Jumping directly to the answer, Hari Krishna scored around  140 marks out of 360  in  JEE Main 2016.  He was quite upset with his result and so he went to his hometown right after JEE Main 2016. He also didn’t attend the JEE Advanced classes as he was not happy with his result. What he actually did was that during the time when everyone (including my friend) was busy attending JEE Advanced classes, doing the toughest sums for JEE Advanced and whatnot, he just picked  10-15 previous year JEE Advanced papers  and solved it during the  45-day period  before  JEE Advanced 2016.  Additionally, he revised his notes, important questions and formulas by doing self-study. It was to my surprise when I got to know from my friend (who scored around  230 marks out of 360...

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM RANK REQUIRED IN JEE MAIN AND JEE ADVANCED TO GET INTO AN NIT OR IIT?

Image
This is a very common question among JEE aspirants that what is the minimum rank required in JEE Main and JEE Advanced to get into an NIT or IIT and many people on different platforms and website just give you a vague and predicted answer to this question. But the best answer to this question is that which is based on previous year OPENING RANK (OR) AND CLOSING RANK (CR). To solve the concern of millions of students, here is IIT Roorkee's initiative which can clear all your answers. All you have to do is visit this website  https://cutoffs.iitr.ac.in/   to know everything about what all you can get on a particular rank in JEE Main or JEE Advanced. This is a great initiative by IIT Roorkee for people who want to get a seat in an IIT or NIT. You just have to select the year whose opening and closing ranks you want to see, then select IIT or NIT, then apply some primary filters (you don't have to necessarily apply all the primary filters, you can check even without applying any p...

I HAVEN'T SCORED WELL IN THE PREVIOUS ATTEMPT(S) OF JEE MAIN. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE AS I WANT TO SCORE AT LEAST 99 PERCENTILE?

Some Important Advice 1. I’ll recommend you spend most of your time on self-study. Please leave each and every social media platform till your selection in JEE (Main or Advanced). Use the internet only for the purpose. 2. Revision is a very important thing. If you’re weak in some chapters (or topics), then don’t waste time learning them from scratch. Just take a glance at such chapters (or topics), go through the important theory points, formulas and questions. I didn’t study gravitation in my whole 2-year JEE preparation. I only spent 3-4 hours on gravitation during my last revision, just went through the important formulas and questions and bang, I easily solved the 2016’s JEE Main gravitation question. 3. Revise those chapters (and topics) in which you’re already good. Don’t leave them considering you’re already good at it and so you don’t need revisions. If you’re really good at them, then please take a glance at them. Go through the important theory points, formulas and questio...

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS THAT WILL BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS UNDER THE GENERAL EWS (GEN-EWS) CATEGORY IN THE IIT-JEE EXAM?

Image
The Union Government of India tabled the Constitution (One Hundred And Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019 which provided a 10% additional quota for the EWS students amongst the erstwhile Unreserved Category or General Category students. The Current Definition of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) The definition of  Family in EWS Reservation  means "The person who seeks the benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years". CAN SOMEONE STUDY IN A COLLEGE AND STILL TAKE THE JEE ADVANCED EXAM AS A DROPPER?

Image
First of all, according to your question, you mean that can someone study in a college and still appear for JEE Advanced as a dropper student and get a seat in any IIT based on his/her rank? So the answer to your question is Yes. According to the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced, which is the only way to get into the IITs, one can appear for JEE Advanced and can get a seat in any IIT based on his/her rank  only if he had not taken a seat in any of the 23 IITs previously  subject to fulfilling the other eligibility criteria apart from this. In simple words,  if you are eligible for JEE Advanced and also not enrolled in any IIT, then you can definitely take the JEE Advanced exam as a dropper. One of my junior’s coaching teacher at Resonance landed in  NIT Kurukshetra  after two years of JEE preparation but he always wanted to be an IITian and so during his first year at NIT Kurukshetra (NITKKR), he prepared again for JEE, cleared the exam and got admission in...

WHICH ARE THE MOST COMMON CHAPTERS, TOPICS AND SUB-TOPICS FROM WHICH QUESTIONS ARE FREQUENTLY ASKED IN THE JEE MAIN?

I’m going to give you a list of chapters/topics/sub-topics of Mathematics from which at least one question is most likely to come in JEE Main. Further, from the list that I have written below, some questions are coming for sure and so,  MAKE SURE YOU DON’T LEAVE ANY OF THE BELOW-MENTIONED TOPICS UNTURNED DURING YOUR FINAL REVISION. Further, d o take a look at THEIR THEORY, THE FORMULAS INVOLVED AND THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY PRACTISED DURING YOUR PREPARATION .  For a few, this may seem like the syllabus of JEE Main but the syllabus of JEE Main is many-many more than this. This list includes those chapters, topics and sub-topics from which questions are frequently asked in JEE Main and so one must revise these before the final exam. Moreover, no one can give the exact list and so whatever list I have given can help you a lot. I’ve made this list after analysing some previous year papers of JEE Main. So here is the list! JEE MAIN TOPICS A. JEE Main Topics Ther...

WHAT ARE THE BEST BOOKS FOR MATHEMATICS FOR JEE MAIN ONLY TO SCORE 80+ OUT OF 100?

Image
Now every year, there is a lot of confusion among JEE aspirants regarding which book to choose for which subject. Hence, I'll try my best to clear your doubts as much as possible through this post. So if we are discussing the books for Mathematics for JEE Main only and that too in such a way that they will be enough to get you a very good score in JEE Main, then it must have  good quality problems in quantity covering all the theory for JEE Main  and also must satisfy the following characteristics: Whether it is relevant for JEE Main. Does it have solutions to all the questions? Is there a good quantity of problems with quality per chapter? Then, with no doubt, books by  TMH Publication (McGraw Hill)  are the best book (if we’re talking about just one book) in the market. This book  (Complete Mathematics for JEE Main)  has very good examples per chapter and you can also found a meticulously curated summary of the theory of each chapter at the beginning whic...
