WHICH IS THE BEST BOOK FOR MATHEMATICS FOR JEE MAIN ONLY?
There are quite a good number of answers to this question and so I’ll try not to make it very long. I’ll suggest you those books, some of which I personally have solved during my JEE preparation. They are really very popular among JEE aspirants and are good as well.
Now every year, there is a lot of confusion among aspirants regarding which book to choose for which subject. Therefore, I'll try my best to clear your doubts as much as possible through this post.
So if we are discussing about the books for Mathematics for JEE Main only and that too in such a way that they will be enough to get you a good rank in JEE Main, then it must have good quality problems in quantity covering all the theory for JEE Main and also must satisfy the following characteristics:
- Whether it is relevant for JEE Main.
- Does it have solutions to all the questions?
- Is there a good quantity of problems with quality per chapter?
Then, without any doubt, books by Cengage Learning and TMH Publication (McGraw Hill) are the best book (if we’re talking about just one book) in the market.
These books (Mathematics for JEE Main, 3E) and (Complete Mathematics for JEE Main) has very good examples per chapter and you can also found a meticulously curated summary of the theory of each chapter at the beginning which is best for instant revision. This book also has many problems at the end of the chapter for self-practice. You'll also have PYQs which are very important.
Some Other Good Recommendations
(A) Cengage Learning Series (Mathematics for JEE Advanced) By G. Tewani - Cengage JEE Advanced Set of 5 Books for Mathematics - [Best Book]
Alright! So this book reads Mathematics for JEE Advanced but it has numerous of Objective Questions which if you solve will be enough to get you very good marks in Mathematics in JEE Main. This is a set of 5 books and has a lot of questions of different types (Textbook Examples, Subjective Type, Integer Type, Single Correct, Multiple Correct, Comprehension, Matrix-Match, Assertion-Reason). Another advantage of this book is that you have solutions to all the questions. So if you have time, then you should definitely go for this book and must solve questions from Textbook Examples, Objective Type and Integer Type.
(B) Objective Mathematics by R D Sharma
Important (Final Remarks): My recommendation is don’t go for too many books for Mathematics. 2 books (my preference - Cengage for Mathematics and Complete Mathematics for JEE Main by TMH) along with coaching material (of a good coaching institute) is enough if you’re rigorously practicing mathematics and want to get a good rank in JEE Main. Do solve previous year (at least 10–12 years old) JEE Main and Advanced papers [Highly Recommended]. Along with solving the previous year's questions of JEE Main, do solve previous year's questions of JEE Advanced too because many a-times, direct question from previous year JEE Advanced papers have been asked in JEE Main.
