I HAVEN'T SCORED WELL IN THE PREVIOUS ATTEMPT(S) OF JEE MAIN. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE AS I WANT TO SCORE AT LEAST 99 PERCENTILE?

Some Important Advice

1. I’ll recommend you spend most of your time on self-study. Please leave each and every social media platform till your selection in JEE (Main or Advanced). Use the internet only for the purpose.

2. Revision is a very important thing. If you’re weak in some chapters (or topics), then don’t waste time learning them from scratch. Just take a glance at such chapters (or topics), go through the important theory points, formulas and questions. I didn’t study gravitation in my whole 2-year JEE preparation. I only spent 3-4 hours on gravitation during my last revision, just went through the important formulas and questions and bang, I easily solved the 2016’s JEE Main gravitation question.

3. Revise those chapters (and topics) in which you’re already good. Don’t leave them considering you’re already good at it and so you don’t need revisions. If you’re really good at them, then please take a glance at them. Go through the important theory points, formulas and questions.

4. Strengthen the old concepts, analyze your performance and mistakes (especially silly mistakes because it hurts a lot) in the previous JEE exam(s), analyze your performance and mistakes of class tests and test series that you have given during your preparation and work on them, give equal importance to all the three subjects if your balance for all the three subjects has already been good, give tests (class tests, test series, mock tests etc-etc) at regular intervals in the remaining time because that will give you an idea of your performance and places of improvement.

5. And lastly, don’t forget to solve the previous year's JEE Main and Advanced papers (at least 10–12 years) because it really helps a lot. This is the one piece of advice that I always give to everyone. If you’re giving JEE Main 2021 again in the April and May sessions, then do take a glance at all the papers of JEE Main 2021 February and March sessions. There have been many instances where direct questions have been asked from a past year's paper or a previous session paper. While solving a past year paper, do analyze that what are the topic(s) from a particular chapter on which question(s) are being continuously asked every year or every 2-3 years. I’m saying this because I’ve seen a lot of questions after analyzing past year's papers.

6. Now as we all know JEE Main has been postponed and we don't know when it will be conducted. So my further advice is to start practicing and revising the JEE syllabus. As they say, Practice Makes A Man Perfect. Therefore, keep practicing (especially Mathematics) during the remaining time. Do memorize all the formulas because quite a lot of times, questions are just based on formulas and a little bit of calculation thereafter.

In the nutshell, study as much as you can, be passionate and determined for your dream IIT/NIT/IIIT, study with confidence and be confident in what you know, eat healthily and be healthy because good health will always boost your confidence, take decent sleep and please please give up on all social media platforms at least till your selection. I am sure if you don’t waste a single day (even a single hour) from now on, take care of your health, do smart as well as hard work and study in a planned, smart and consistent manner, then you will definitely succeed and get a good rank in JEE.

Hope this helps you. Thank you for reading!
